The 2008 Conference of the Southwide Baptist Fellowship features seven of the most sought-after speakers from across the country. Below you will find a photo and brief biography of each of the speakers that will be in attendance.

Brad Powell
Brad Powell

Brad is the Senior Pastor of NorthRidge Church of Plymouth, Michigan, and author of the book Change Your Church For Good. Under his leadership, the congregation of the church has been led from a dying church that was locked in a pattern of cultural irrelevance to an exciting, contemporary church communicating God's word to people of every generation. Today, more than 13,000 people attend worship services at the church every week. Brad is a frequent conference speaker and provides leadership resources and encouragement for other churches in transition through NorthRidge Ministries Association and at his annual conference, Change Without Compromise.

Eric Geiger
Eric Geiger

Eric is the Executive Pastor of Christ Fellowship of Miami, Florida, and coauthor with Thom Ranier of Simple Church. The book is built upon an extensive research project that has challenged thousands of church leaders to embrace a simple church design to simplify, steamline, and eliminate the clutter. Eric received his doctorate from Southern Seminary. He enjoys reading, basketball, visiting great restaurants and cities with his wife, Kaye, and occasionally doing yard work. Eric is also available on a limited basis for speaking and consulting.

Bobby Welch
Bobby Welch

Bobby is the former Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida. Under his leadership of the church for over 30 years, over 6,500 people were baptized and membership grew to over 5,000. Bobby was also the co-creator of the Nationwide FAITH Sunday School evangelism program that is used by hundreds of churches across the country. He is also a highly regarded leader within the Southern Baptist Convention as he has held the offices of President and Vice President, and is a former President of the Florida Baptist Convention. Currently, Bobby is serving as a Strategist for Global Evangelical Relations for the purpose of growing, maintaining, and nurturing Baptist cooperation on a global scale.

Jerry Thorpe
Jerry Thorpe

Jerry is the Pastor Emeritus of CrossRoads Fellowship (formerly Temple Baptist Church) of Odessa, Texas, and an active member of the Libery University Board of Lynchburg, Virginia. He co-pastored Temple Baptist Church with his father, Curtis Thorpe, from 1964 until 1984, at which time he assumed the position of Senior Pastor of the church. In 2000, Jerry retired as Senior Pastor of Temple Baptist Church and now travels all over the nation speaking. In additional to his pastoral duties, Jerry has served as members of the boards of the Salvation Army, The United Way, Ector County Juvenile Home, Ector County Industrial Development Board, and the Odessa Housing Authority Board.

Sujo John
Sujo John

Sujo is an evangelist, and survivor of terrorist attacks on the two World Trade Center towers in New York City, New York, on September 11, 2001. In the early days following the terrorist attacks, God began unleashing a burden on Sujo's heart to share Christ with people around the world. Media from all over the world has taken interest in his story of faith and survival and he has appeared on BBC, The 700 Club, Billy Graham Special, TBN, CBC, The New York Times, The Times - London, The National Post, and countless other publications around the world.

Tim Lee
Tim Lee

Tim is an evangelist, and decorated Vietnam War hero, from Garland, Texas. In 1971, while serving within the last 30 days of his tour of duty in Vietnam, Tim stepped directly onto a sixty pound box mine, causing an explosion that severed his two lower limbs and placed him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Just some two years later, realizing the call from God, Tim entered into the ministry, first as an evangelist, then serving as a pastor of a church in southern Illinois for five years before becoming a full-time evengelist in 1979. Today, he travels the world, sharing his testimony and preaching that men and women can be saved by God's grace. Tim also hosts the annual Youth Alive conference for junior and senior high students.

Jonathan Falwell
Jonathan Falwell

Jonathan is the Senior Pastor of Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia, and the Executive Vice President of Spiritual Affairs at Libery University, also in Lynchburg. He served under the leadership of his father, Dr. Jerry Falwell, from 1995 until his father's death in May 2007. Prior to joining the staff at Thomas Road Baptist Church, Jonathan was involved in numerous business ventures including, in 1990, starting on of Virginia's largest video and film production companies and was an accomplished photographer whose photographs have appeared in Time Magazine, NewsWeek, and other national and international magazines. Today, Thomas Road Baptist Church has over 12,000 in attendance each Sunday, over 250 staff members, and church membership of over 20,000.
